The legend of Australia’s most revered wine is one of invention, passion, risk and determination. It was a long patient journey for Max Schubert as he worked his way up Penfolds ladder from messenger boy to Chief Winemaker.

Inspire by a business trip where he detoured to France, Schubert, was determined to craft a superior wine of his own.Combining traditional Australian techniques, inspiration from Europe and precision winemaking practices developed at Penfolds, Schubert made began crafting what would later be known as Penfolds Grange. It would take some time before this collection would gain notice, but once it did, it was awarded nearly every year since its inception.
