Clan Macgregor takes its name from Gregor, third son of Alpin, King of the Scots in the eighth century. This royal lineage gave rise to the clan motto, ‘Royal is my Race’ and underwent centuries of persecution which ultimately ended with their land being confiscated and the name MacGregor being outlawed.
