The youngest of 10 children, Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel learned the art of whiskey making from the enslaved Nathan “Nearest” Green. Nearest eventually became Jack Daniel Distillery’s head distiller and was given the nickname Uncle Nearest (the one an the same as Uncle Nearest 1856 Whiskey)
Today, Jack Daniel Distillery is one of the most distinguished and recognizable names in the spirits industry. Made 80% corn, 12% barley and 8% rye for the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. Fermented with a proprietary strain of yeast and iron-free cave spring water before it is filtered through 10ft of charcoal, otherwise known as the Lincoln County Process. The whisky is then matured in Jack Daniel's own handcrafted barrels for a varying amount of time to yield a
sweet and oaky bourbon that is mellow down to the last drop.
